  • What is Solihull Home Options?
    Solihull Home Options is the way of letting homes in the Solihull borough and is a partnership between Solihull Council, Solihull Community Housing and our partner Housing Associations in the borough.
  • How do I apply for a new home, if I am not on the housing register?
    If you are not on the housing register you can apply by completing the on-line wizard on our home page.
  • How will properties be let?
    You will be assessed on your housing need and be given a band from A - E.  People in band A are those assessed as having the most urgent housing need.  Council Housing tenants who do not have housing need but wish to transfer and has a good tenancy history as defined in the Solihull Council Housing Allocation Policy will be given a Band 'T'.   
  • Where will properties be advertised?
    All available properties will be advertised on this website, click Property Search to view the current advertised homes.  The properties will also be advertised in a free newsletter.  You can use a computer or pick up a free newsletter from your local Solihull Community Housing office or Solihull Connect offices.   
  • What do I do if I see a property I am interested in?
    Using your pin number that you have been given you can bid for a property by following the instructions in the property search section of this website, click Property Search to place a bid now.  You can also express an interest by phoning 0121 717 1515 or you can send a text to 07781 486932.  Alternatively you can call into your local housing or Solihull Connect office.
  • How many properties can I bid for at any one time?
    You can bid for up to 2 properties in each weekly advertising cycle.  Properties will be advertised from Wednesday until the end of the day on the following Tuesday.  Once the deadline is over you can no longer bid in that advertising cycle.  So make sure you do not miss the deadline. 
  • Will my queue position change once I have made a bid?
    Yes, it is likely your queue position may change which depends on a number of reasons including for example, the number of applicants showing interest in a property or verification checks completed on applicants during and at the end of the advertising cycle.
  • How will I know if my bid has been successful?
    When the advertising cycle ends, you will be contacted within 10 working days if you have been successful.  If you have not heard anything during this time then you will not have been successful.  Feedback on the previous week's lettings will be published on this website and in the free newsletter (personal details of the successful applicants will not be included), click Recent Lets  to view previous lettings.
  • Can I view a property before deciding to accept it?
    Yes, you will be given at least 24 hours notice before you are invited to view a property.  Up to six people may be short-listed and invited to view (at different times).  Each person will be advised of their position on the short-list.
  • What if I am having difficulty using the scheme?
    Arrangements can be made for people who are unable to access the service for themselves, for example home visits or we can make you an appointment to see an Housing Options Advisor.  We have been working hard to make sure that the scheme is accessible to all.  If you would like to talk to a member of staff or find out more please contact 0121 717 1515.
